A UAE bank account makes paying deposits, service charges and utility bills far simpler, and it is usually needed if you plan to rent the property out. Here is what to expect.
Residents and non-residents
UAE residents can open an account with their Emirates ID and residence visa. Several banks also offer accounts to non-residents, although requirements are stricter and the choice of products is narrower.
Documents you will typically need
- A valid passport
- Emirates ID and residence visa, if you are a resident
- Proof of address, such as a recent utility bill
- Recent bank statements from your home country
- Proof of income or source of funds, such as an employment letter or company documents
- For property buyers, a copy of the sale agreement or title deed can help
How long it takes
Timelines vary by bank and by profile. Straightforward resident accounts can be opened quickly; non-resident and corporate accounts usually take longer because of additional checks.
